Recently, NatureWorks LLC announced the appointment of U.S. Pacific Nonwoven Industry Co., Ltd. as its Asia-Pacific regional general distributor, responsible for the sales of nonwoven products made from Ingeo bio-materials—sourced from plants rather than petroleum. The production process of Ingeo bio-materials consumes less energy and generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions. Nonwovens manufactured from these materials offer multiple advantages: for instance, wet wipes produced using melt-blown technology with Ingeo and PHA blends exhibit an extended shelf life and enhanced biodegradability in river water and soil. Compared to polypropylene-based products, spunbond nonwovens made from Ingeo demonstrate comparable tensile strength and dyeability while outperforming in cuttability, stain resistance, flame retardancy, and elasticity. These materials can be applied in areas such as diaper backsheets, plant mulch, and soft furnishings.
